Pantech to launch a 5-inch smartphone with fingerprint recognition next month

Pantech is preparing to launch a new phone in its own backyard next month. The forthcoming device will rock a 5-inch screen and a fingerprint recognition sensor, ET News is reporting. We don’t have other details but we do guess the rest of this phone’s specs will be top-notch and include things like Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, 2GB of RAM and a powerful camera on the back.

For those who haven’t heard, Pantech already offers a device with fingerprint sensor – it’s called Vega Secret Note and it rocks a massive 5.9-inch screen. Similarly to many other Pantech devices, this phablet isn’t available outside of South Korea, and we can only hope that the upcoming 5-incher will find its way to the West. Now that everyone is crazy about fingerprint recognition, we tend to think Pantech stands a chance in competing with the likes of Apple, Samsung and LG. We’ll see how that goes…
