Doctor Who recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The BBC sci-fi show celebrated half a century on the air with a huge special, a viewing event in movie theaters across the country, and all manner of tie-in merchandise. So it’s high time the Doctor got a Puzzle & Dragons clone of his very own. Doctor Who: Legacy is out now for Android and iOS!
Doctor Who: Legacy puts you in the shoes of the 11th Doctor after discovering a Sontaran plot to change the course of history. The Doctor must travel through time and space in his trusty TARDIS and do battle with all his old enemies. All the classics are here; the Daleks, Cybermen, and The Silence among many others. Of course the Doctor’s trusty companions and friends are here too and, much like your helpers in Puzzle & Dragons, you’ll collect them as you pass through the game and upgrade their stats. Get ready to max out River Song!
The Gameplay is very similar to GungHo’s model with the aforementioned Puzzle & Dragons. It’s a casual RPG mashed up with a Puyo Pop. You battle using multi-colored gems (or bubbles, or whatever they are), with elemental powers corresponding to their shade. The Doctor and his companions each have different elemental relations and will attack when their color gems are matched.
You battle back through time, and Doctor Who series starting with the most recent. Assuming the game goes on, we should eventually get all the way back to the 1st Doctor and his 50-year-old stories. Fan favorite 10th Doctor already shows up in the game’s art, so David Tennant freaks should definitely check this one out.
The game is free to play, with (of course) optional micro transactions for upgrades and character outfits, etc. For more information, check out the announcement below:

“…without an energy system restricting how many missions you can play in one sitting [...] Doctor Who: Legacy stands out as one of the more moral free-to-play games when it comes to how it treats its players.” – Digital Spy.com
“Is this the title to restore Doctor Who‘s videogaming fortunes? We think it might be…” – Kasterborous.com
“..Doctor Who: Legacy is less an irritating browser game and far more a thoughtful turn-based RPG with real depth of play.” – Jon Cooper, Mirror.co.uk
“… it’s essentially a big sand pit to muck around with your favourite Who characters from your favourite episodes in clever and enjoyable puzzles.” – The Gallifrey Times
“As it stands, “Doctor Who: Legacy” is a well done entry into a crowded genre that’s elevated by its obvious love for its source material. If you call yourself a Whovian, you probably owe it to yourself to at least give it a download, and non-fans could do worse than getting their recommended daily allowance of Match-3 play this way.” – Gamesided.com
An old enemy is traveling through time, changing events to bring about the ultimate war!
