If you thought the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition was all the search giant had up its sleeve today, you’d be wrong. In addition to the first Google Play Edition tablet, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is the first phablet available, and you can grab one now for $649!
The Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition shares the same hardware you’d find on the original, but you’ll be treated to the latest and greatest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat. The stock Android handset will also receive updates in a more timely fashion compared to other Android devices that ship with custom user interfaces.
The Sony Xperia Z Ultra offers up a 6.4 inch 1080p HD display (342 ppi), 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 16GB storage, 2GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, microSD card slot, and 3,000 mAh battery. Needless to say, the first Google Play Editon phablet not only has a sexy design, but a beefy set of specs to back it up.
Like the HTC One and Galaxy S4 Google Play Editions, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is also sold at its unsubsidized price point of $649. The price tag may be a bit hard to swallow, but this is the price range that most smartphones cost without a contract.
