While we didn’t see a new Apple TV at Apple’s WWDC last year, Apple is by no means writing the platform off. A number of channels have been added to Apple TV today, keeping the streaming media box competitive against the likes of Roku and Google TV enabled streaming boxes.
Apple added the ability to watch local ABC stations with a “Watch ABC” channel, financial new outlet Bloomberg, Crackle and Korean channel KORTV. The Bloomberg app will provide the majority of its website and mobile app offerings through its Apple TV channel, and will include a special breaking news live stream channel.
This addition of channels to Apple TV follows last month’s addition of Yahoo! Screen and PBS. Over the summer, Apple added Disney Junior, Major League Soccer, Vevo, Smithsonian, Disney, WatchESPN and HBO GO. Apple could also provide Time Warner Cable and The CW channels to Apple TV in the near future.
