Google Maps For iOS and Android Gets Gmail Integration, Displays Hotel and Flight Information In App

Google Maps for iOS and Android have received an update today with the ability to display restaurant reservations, flight statuses and hotel booking right from the app. The update brings Google Maps from version 7.4 up to 7.5, adding fixes for a ton of bugs to the Gmail integration.

The app pulls information from Gmail messages and plops them into Maps, making the notifications useless of you haven’t set up Gmail as your default e-mail account to receive the confirmation e-mails.

The update displays your hotel bookings or flight information right on the map, along with a direct link to the e-mail that the information corresponds to. For users who are travelling by air, opening up the airport map will display details pertain to your flight, such as arrival and departure times. Google recently added subway stations and airport navigation features to Street View in Google Maps, making it easier than ever to navigate through a multi-tiered trip. Google has been slowly adding features and languages to Google Maps, keeping the service one step ahead of other map apps such as Mapquest and Apple Maps.

Head over to the Google Play Store to download the latest version of Google Maps, or check out Android Police for a few links to download the .APK and manually install.
