LG today announced that it is going to add a Spotify application to all its 2013 Smart TVs. The service will only be available to those subscribed to a Premium account, even though the popular music service just added free streaming on the web and on mobile. LG is requiring folks to be paid subscribers to use the app, but the company is giving users a one month free trial after they sign up (something Spotify does already).
It’s impressive to see the way Spotify is growing. The music streaming service can now be seen on three major TV makers, including Samsung and Philips along with LG. With this deal, Spotify puts further distance between itself and its competitors. LG says the new Smart TV app will go live in over 30 countries over the coming days.
