Google gave us a surprise last week with the unveiling of the first ever Google Play Edition tablet, the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, and has wasted no time in bringing the newest version of Android 4.4.2 for the tablet. The device launched with Android 4.4 KitKat upon its release just one week ago today.

In case you missed the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition’s debut, here’s a detailed list of specs for the device:

  • Processor: 1.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 600 Processor
  • Operating System: Android™ 4.4, KitKat
  • Display: 8.3-inch Full HD IPS WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels / 273 ppi)
  • Memory: 16GB eMMC
  • RAM: 2GB LPDDR2
  • Camera: Rear 5.0MP / Front 1.3MP
  • Battery: 4,600mAh
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi
  • Size: 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3mm
  • Weight: 338g

The Android 4.4.2 update doesn’t seem to be packing any huge changes to KitKat, coming in at relatively small size of 50MB. As far as we can tell, the update brings a bunch of bugfixes and stability improvements, and some security enhancements.

The update is rolling out slowly as per usual, making its rounds over the next week or so. If you’d like to grab the Android 4.4.2 update without waiting for it to roll out over the air, head here to download and install the update manually.
