Pebble smartwatches will have their own app store next year

We all knew it was just a matter of time before Pebble got into the app store game. Well that time is now, apparently. The wildly popular smartwatch today announced that it plans to roll out an app store loaded with compatible apps that’s ready for every customers wrist. It’s will be known as the “first-of-its-kind wearable application directory.”

Pebble is doing some really incredible stuff for a company that’s been out for a little over a year. Many of its engineering feats could be due to its SDK that’s open to all want to build things for the smartwatch. Recently the company donated 4,000 Pebble watches to some of the brightest young minds in the country.

Saddle up Pebble devs: the Pebble appstore is coming soon

Today, we are proud to announce exciting news to our developer community: the Pebble Developer Portal is now open! Pebble app developers can now upload their Pebble apps for distribution in the upcoming Pebble appstore. When it launches in early 2014, the Pebble appstore will be a first-of-its-kind wearable tech application directory—giving Pebble users a one-stop-shop for searching, browsing, and installing Pebble watch faces and apps directly from the iOS or Android Pebble smartphone app.

The introduction of SDK 2.0 included four major new APIs—Javascript, Accelerometer, Data Logging, and Persistent Storage—and the response has been phenomenal. We know developers have excitedly anticipated submitting their SDK 2.0 Pebble apps to the Pebble app store.

The time is now.

Another tech-company offering an innovative smartwatch is Smart Devices, which introduced the world’s first tablet with a built in DLP projector – winning a prestigious 2013 CTIA E-Tech Award; and now its Smart Q Z-watch is gaining notice for its features and design and compares to the Pebble smartwatch but with features more on par with Samsung’s Galaxy watch at nearly half the price.

Currently the SmartQ Z Watch is the only prominent watch on the market aside from the Galaxy watch with full voice-command and voice query capability and with Smart Devices launching an App store in January, after accepting hundreds of App developer submissions in November, one can expect more innovative Apps and Siri-like functionality in a watch device.

The SmartQ Z-Watch($155) officially launched December 1st and offers a full color touch screen display with one of the highest resolutions currently available, and features a powerful 1Ghz processor, along with twice the battery power of most other models on the market; plus Bluetooth 4.0 with low energy use & WiFi connection–

The SmartQ Z-Watch works with Android smartphones to handle phone calls and sync and display messages, contacts, and schedule; plus features an MP3 Player & Voice Recorder, a walking/jogging pedometer and sleep analyzer, and world Weather forcast — a software update is expected January for the watch to work with Apple iOS devices as well.

Tab l e t Sp r i nt — is one of the first U.S. resellers offering the SmartQ Z-Watch and also adds in premium earphones and an extra watch band strap as part of an introductory promotion.
