Oyster, the ‘Netflix for E-Books’ Raises $14 Million

Oyster, a Netflix like service that delivers e-books has received a new round of funding, allowing the relatively new service to continue to change the way we purchase and view e-books.

Oyster is a new e-book service designed specifically for mobile devices. It offers unlimited reading for a monthly fee, similar to the way Netflix streams movies or Audible.com’s audio book service. Oyster provides unlimited access to e-books for a $9.95 monthly fee via an app which is currently only available for iOS devices. An Android app is on its way, and should be arriving soon.

The startup currently provides access to over 100,000 e-books, some of which are from published HarperCollins. Oyster has yet to pen deals with other huge publishers such as Penguin Random House, Macmillan and others, which will hopefully take place soon.

Oyster is offering a free month of its service just for signing up, so download the iOS app today and get started reading all of your favorites with ease from your favorite iOS device.
