Xiaomi is apparently preparing to expand its smartphone line-up with a new low-cost model. Marked as Hongmi 1S, it may emerge as the most affordable device in the Chinese firm’s line-up, selling for 799 Yuan.
At the moment, the same cash gets you the “regular” Hongmi handset but that will change once the Hongmi 1S launches. Heck, we may see the Hongmi 2 emerging in the coming weeks as well, leaving room for another device like the one we’re talking about here.
It is said that the 1S will rock MediaTek’s quad-core MT6588 chipset that includes Mali 450 graphics and an HD screen. The Hongmi 2 will then likely jump up in the range, boasting an octa-core processor and higher 999 Yuan price tag. These new phones are expected to launch just after the forthcoming Chinese Spring Festival celebrations.
Sounds like another great year is coming for Xiaomi…
