Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the official phone of Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and all athletes will get one

The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are set to begin on February 7th, and Samsung, as one of the official sponsors, prepared a special version of the Galaxy Note 3 to celebrate the big event. This Olympics-themed device may not be available for purchase in all places around the world (we’re not sure it will be offered for sale at all), but every single athlete competing in Sochi will get a unit free of charge. That’s right, even if they don’t score a single medal, participating athletes will still go home with one of the most expensive and most powerful Android devices ever. Pretty sweet, for those competing in Sochi, at least.

In addition, the Korean company has also prepared a special Wireless Olympic Works (WOW) Android app to allow fans to keep up with the latest news coming from Russia. We’ve already covered it before, and you can read about it from this post.

All this is part of what the company calls the “Samsung Smart Olympic Games” initiative which is envisioned to provide users with real-time information from Sochi, and any future Olympic city for that matter…
