Samsung has managed to score a patent for a buttonless phone. The USPTO filing no. US D697,886 S depicts a device without a single hardware button. It’s like a dream come true, or a nightmare, depending on your point of view.
The Korean company imagines a device that will keep the same functionality as a “regular” phone with few physical buttons that are replaced with some sort of touch sensors. That may sound awesome but I like having those few buttons so I’m sure I’ve actually pressed them. Perhaps if they provide some sort of feedback I would be willing to compromise.
Anyway, we’re not sure whether this design will be used in the upcoming Galaxy S5. Or perhaps the Korean giant keeps it for its upcoming F-Series, which as far as we’ve understood, will be even more premium than the Galaxy S phones.
On the other hand, this could just be a patent Samsung won’t use any time soon. We’ll have to wait and see what they’re up to…
