The earlier rumored Nexus 8 may launch at the end of April, DigiTimes is reporting. Citing sources from Taiwan’s supply chain, the site says Google won’t be making Nexus 7 any more to avoid “price competition in the 7-inch segment.” Instead, it will launch a new tablet in the space that is currently dominated by iPad Mini, as well as Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and LG G Pro 8.3.
The problem is that the new Nexus 7 doesn’t sell like its predecessor, since today users have many more options to choose from. Moreover, the 2013 model isn’t as affordable as the original Nexus 7 was “back in the days.”
It’s unclear which company will make the Nexus 8, but chances are ASUS will again score the deal. Or that could be HTC, which may return to the tablet market with “little” help from Google.
In any case, we hope to see an awesome device from Google. And are looking forward to try it out the second it’s out…
