If Google and Apple can do it, so can Microsoft. Yup, the Redmond giant wants to sell books and magazines to its steadily growing number of mobile users.
In fact, the company has posted a job listing for “Software Development Engineer – Devices & Studios – Music, Video and Reading,” hinting us what’s cooking in their labs. And this means we could see a service like Xbox Reading launching in the near future. This service will reportedly include not just books, but also magazines and comics.
Of course, we don’t have any dates yet, and we likely won’t get them before Microsoft’s Build conference in April. At that time, however, we hope to learn much more about this and many other services coming to Windows Phone users.
Meanwhile, Microsoft will keep supporting Barnes & Noble’s Nook app, which pretty much gets the job done, allowing folks to buy books from B&N’s vast catalog and read them while on the go.
