HTC Desire 8 Specs Leaked: Will Rock Android 4.4.2 KitKat Out of the Box

HTC prepping a mid-range phablet for the emerging market

HTC’s upcoming mid-range phablet the Desire 8 is getting a lot of love today. Supposed specs for the device have surfaced, just minutes after we received word of the device’s possible February 24th launch. The specs come to us via LlabTooFer, proving that HTC’s next phablet will indeed be mid-range. The leaked specs align with previous rumors, such as the inclusion of on-screen buttons and Android 4.4.2 running out of the box.

Here are the specs of the HTC Desire 8, according to LlabTooFer:

  • Codename: A5
  • Processor: Quadcore Snapdragon 400 1.2Ghz (MSM8926)
  • Display: 5.5 inch 720p resolution
  • Cameras: 13mp/5mp
  • 8GB ROM
  • 1GB RAM
  • microSD support
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Android 4.4.2
  • Sense 6.0
  • On screen Buttons

It’s not the most impressive spec sheet we’ve ever seen, but not the worst either. The big kicker here is that the Desire 8 will run Android 4.4.2 out of the box. While some of last year’s flagship smartphones are still waiting on their Android 4.4 KitKat update to arrive, manufacturers are releasing mid and low range devices that run on the latest version of Android. An interesting turn of events, for sure.

The HTC Desire 8 is said to be aimed at emerging markets, so we’re still not sure if the device will show up in the U.S.

So, anyone interested in the HTC Desire 8?
