Smartphones that have the ability to boot into either Android or Windows Phone are coming soon, according to The Times of India. Indian smartphone manufacturer Karbonn Mobiles is said to release multiple dual-OS devices by this June, targeting professionals as well as early adopters.
Karbonn recently signed a license agreement with Microsoft, allowing the company to use the Windows Phone platform for their mobile devices. In an attempt to expand the Windows Phone platform, Microsoft has eased regulations as of late, allowing more device manufacturers to utilize the platform. It would also appear that part of that change in regulation frees up licensed manufacturers to produce more than just Windows Phone handsets, as is evident with the recent launch of Nokia’s X Android powered line of budget smartphones.
It would be surprising to see the dual-OS devices reach the U.S., as Karbonn sells its devices in India, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East currently.
