When Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S5 some wondered whether there will be an “Active” version released since the regular device is already water-proof. Looks like the Korean company has kept its strategy of offering multiple product variants and will indeed launch the Galaxy S5 Active soon.
According to EVleaks, AT&T and Sprint will be among the carriers to sell this more-ruggedized smartphone (model number SM-G870x) though unfortunately we’ve no idea when they’ll officially launch it.
We do know that Galaxy S5 will be available starting from April 11th so chances are the Active model will follow a month afterwards. Or later, we can’t really tell at the moment. We do expect it to boast IP68 certification that will make sure the S5 Active is able to stay in up to five feet (1.5m) of water for more than an hour… which BTW is something Sony’s new Xperia Z2 can do…
So who’s in for the Galaxy S5 Active?
