Samsung Galaxy S5 Active coming to AT&T and Sprint?

When Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S5 some wondered whether there will be an “Active” version released since the regular device is already water-proof. Looks like the Korean company has kept its strategy of offering multiple product variants and will indeed launch the Galaxy S5 Active soon.

According to EVleaks, AT&T and Sprint will be among the carriers to sell this more-ruggedized smartphone (model number SM-G870x) though unfortunately we’ve no idea when they’ll officially launch it.

We do know that Galaxy S5 will be available starting from April 11th so chances are the Active model will follow a month afterwards. Or later, we can’t really tell at the moment. We do expect it to boast IP68 certification that will make sure the S5 Active is able to stay in up to five feet (1.5m) of water for more than an hour… which BTW is something Sony’s new Xperia Z2 can do…

So who’s in for the Galaxy S5 Active?

Would like to see the s5 active built more like the rugby pro and have finger tracking like the cat b15 to be able to use the screen while it is wet.

    • Same here, I have the S4 active and love the feel of it but wish it was still a bit more on the rugged side. Can’t wait to see what comes of an S5 active. Better water resistance would be a major plus, I’d also like to see a hand strap loop so I can attach a floating strap, since floating cases are hard to come by.
