Before you say “wow,” let me add that this isn’t actually a big success for Xiaomi. The so called “Apple of China” knows better – they used to move the same number of units in just 5 minutes. So this could mean that either the competition is getting better or that, unlike popular belief, not that many people in Asia like phablets. In any case, this is a win for Xiaomi as many other handset makers could only dream of moving 100,000 units in half an hour. What’s more, we’re sure the next batch of phones will follow this trend as well, and before you know it – the Xiaomi Redmi Note will hit the 1 million milestone.

For those of you who missed it, the Redmi Note is a mid-range phablet with a 5.5-inch 720p HD screen, 1 or 2 GB of RAM, MediaTek’s octa-core chip, 13-megapixel rear camera, 3,200 mAh battery, and 8 or 16 GB of internal storage. The company’s own MIUI is running the show on top of Android…
