Microsoft will be offering Windows for free on devices with screens under nine inches. Yes, this includes smartphones as well as smaller tablets, but it’s unclear whether this will also apply to Padfone-like products.
This latest move is obviously a part of the new CEO’s strategy “mobile first. cloud first” or that’s the other way round. In any case, the Redmond giant has finally decided to make its platform a true alternative to Android and iOS. We’ll just have to wait and see how this pans out, but chances are we’ll see a number of new Windows-based phones and tablets launching in the next few months.
Add universal Windows apps to the mix and you get the big picture where Microsoft is going. We kinda love how all that sounds combined.
