Just the other day, Verizon Wireless has started accepting pre-orders for the Samsung ATIV SE, the Korean company’s first Windows Phone device in years. That model, however, is still shipping with Windows Phone 8 and will get the platform update (to Windows Phone 8.1) later in the year.
Meanwhile, we may see the other Sammy smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1 launching. According to SamMobile, the world’s biggest phone maker will unveil the ATIV Core at some point in May. Unlike the ATIV SE, this will be a mid-range product with specs that include a 4.5-inch 720p HD screen, 1GB of RAM, 8- or 13-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2,100 mAh battery.
All said, we expect this phone to cost no more than $100 – $150 with a two-year contract, or $400 – $450 sans any strings attached.
Unfortunately we don’t have a single image to show you at the moment, but we’re sure we’ll be hearing more about the ATIV Core in the weeks to come. Stay tuned…
