Samsung SDI has unveiled its new curved battery for wearable devices that was first introduced with Sammy’s own Gear Fit wristband.
The 210 mAh battery is said to be the world’s largest capacity battery in a wearable device and would offer enough juice to get fancy bands like the Gear Fit work longer than competing products.
It also uses new battery lamination technology in a tiny cell, as well as V-bending technology to increase the capacity through increased energy density in such a compact size.
“As the global market for smartbands is anticipated to expand sharply in the near future, Samsung SDI will continue to make efforts to become the No. 1 player in the smartband batteries market,” said Samsung’s Lee Kyung-sang.
Samsung is not alone in making this sort of batteries. LG is active in this field as well, with its LG G Flex smartphone also boasting curved battery.
