The earlier rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has been caught at the FCC, hinting us that the launch is imminent.
From what we’ve learned thus far, this model will share Galaxy S5’s internals, all with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip clocked at 2.5GHz and 5.1-inch full HD screen. In addition, it may also have a similar/same 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and 4K video recording support.
Most notable feature though is the phone’s improved (when compared to the “regular” Galaxy S5) IP68 certification that allows it even more time in the water. For those who note these sort of things, this is the same certification level Sony’s Xperia Z2 has. Alas, the Japanese firm doesn’t get as nearly as attention as Samsung. A sign of changing times or what…
Anyway, we’ve heard that the Galaxy S5 Active is coming to the U.S. where it could be offered by AT&T and Sprint. As far as we I can tell, we’re weeks away from the official launch… though you never know.
