File this under “rumors,” but there’s a slight chance Samsung will unveil the Gear 3 smartwatch alongside the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 phablet.
According to The Korea Herald, the world’s biggest phone maker will repeat the last year’s strategy and offer the new smartwatch bundled with its latest phablet.
Presuming there’s some merit here, we can’t really tell what the Gear 3 will be all about. We know Samsung will eventually support Google’s Android Wear initiative, and this could be their first such device.
On the other hand, Koreans have been building their own platform (Tizen) and would like to use it as much as possible. That said, at this moment we can’t really imagine how Gear 3 would be better than existing (Tizen-based) Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo models. We could be missing something, though.
Meanwhile, Samsung may also be working on another smartwatch, Gear Solo, which will have its own cellular connectivity, allowing it [watch] to work without smartphone connection.
