Google will show off the next version of Android tomorrow at Google I/O in San Francisco, according to an interview with Sundar Pichai from Business Week. Google has decided to preview the next version of Android at Google I/O this year, with a public release of the build coming in the fall. Usually, Google doesn’t take the wraps off of new Android versions until the fall. Pichai decided that needed to change.
“I want the world to understand what we are doing sooner.” – Sundar Pichai
We’re not sure what could be packed into the next version of Android, Android 5.0, or even what its nickname will be. It will begin with an L, and will follow Google’s cute naming scheme which tacks the name of sweet treats onto Android builds. Lollipop? Lemon meringue? Lannister? We’ll find out tomorrow.
Also making an appearance at Google I/O will be Android Wear, Google’s vision for wearables and details of TV related devices and services. We could see a revamped Android TV, and will surely hear a lot about Chromecast.
Google I/O kicks off tomorrow, June 25th with the keynote presentation beginning at 9AM. Head here to watch the event live!
