HTC One M9 wishlist

Although the HTC One M8 is still a rather awesome device — and one of the best phones money can buy — we can’t help but start thinking about its successor and what it will be all about.

Some rumors have already started coming in, suggesting the Taiwanese company will keep using an all-aluminum body while also adding a newer, faster hardware to the mix.

Before I start, let me add that we don’t expect to see the One M9 released in 2014. We do hope for the One M8 refresh to be out later this year, sporting a slightly faster Snapdragon 805 chip and perhaps an additional gig of RAM (for a total of 3GB). Next year’s version, however, should be a whole different beast.

Here’s what the upcoming One M9 should be all about (or so we hope):

  • 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip
  • 4GB of RAM
  • QHD screen (1440 x 2560 pixels)
  • Powerful dual camera on the back
  • 300Mbps 4G LTE connectivity support
  • All-aluminum water- and dust-resistant body

Yes, I just described a dream phone. The problem HTC will face at the time the M9 launches is that Samsung too will be out with a device made out of aluminum. Heck, we would expect other handset makers to join the “metal party” which is rather awesome.

Is there any else you would want from the HTC One M9?

Shorter body. Get rid of the useless space where the capactive keys used to be. Shrink the bezels.

The phone is too big as is. I’m an HTC supporter, but not if the phones are so large and unwieldy as to constantly slip out of your hand.

Good grief lose the ultrapixel nonsense and put a decent camera on the back (as you said), 8-12 megapixel minimum with the dual camera. Let the dual camera WORK when you actually zoom the lens. Add back the image stabilization from the M7 (what were you thinking, HTC?) Minimum of 4megs RAM. 2 Megs? Really? Finally, let’s get those clock speeds up past 2.5 Mhz already.

      NO..please not the fingerprint scanner.
      don’t want that shit

A faster processor, increased memory and improved screen are a given for any new phone but it’s the extra gimmicks that can make the difference so my wishlist is as follows:

    Biometric security sensors.
Some inbuilt medical sensors … like the Wello phone case.
A decent 3D capable camera and screen … as I want to upgrade from my HTC Evo 3D but there are no modern 3D phones available.
    An RFID reader.
    A Thermal Infra Red camera.
    A Microscope Lens / camera.
    Gas sensors.

I’m sure that there are more sensors that would add fun and would be useful to have on
a mobile phone but that’s enough for now.

Hopefully, a better camera such as a 12MP dual camera and even bigger battery. 4000mAh maybe?

    Boring boring boring….

    Ultra mega super duper pixel……

    HTC simply…. Sucks

    Replaceable battery!

Stop the crazy bad ultrapixel camera with stupid party tricks and get a normal camera functioning!
Larger and wider screen. 5.5″ to 5.9″ range, The current M8 is too narrow and tall.
Personally I am fine with 1080 screens,
    Replaceable battery
    Louder speakers
    Keep microSD
    Keep the gorgeous aluminum housing

    8-16 UltraPixel duo camera
    7mp front facing camera
    Aluminum unibody construction
Snapdragon 810 chip 3.0 ghz clock speed
    3-4 GB of Ram
    Adreno 400+
    5.2-5.5 inch screen
    QHD display
    3300 mah battery
    32,64,128 gb of storage
Micro sd slot up to 128
Louder BoomSound speakers (not that they aren’t insane already)
    dedicated voice processor
No bezels (other than BoomSound speakers)
    4G LTE-A
    IR blaster
    More color options

I think I just described everyone’s dream phone lol

It is really sad, it’s going to have a 5 inch display. Why not 5.2 inch with small bezels??
