LG’s Brazilian arm has announced that few of the company’s older phones will get KitKat updates in the near future. Among those “affected” are the LG Optimus G, Optimus G Pro, L7 II and dual-SIM G Pro Lite. Some others won’t be so lucky though, including the LG Optimus 4X HD and Optimus F5.
The two-year-old LG Optimus G is scheduled to get the goodies by the end of August. Even before that (July), the Optimus G Pro should be running Android 4.4 KitKat. This is an international variant since the unit sold by AT&T is already boasting the latest version of Google’s mobile platform.
As with any other phone getting the “KitKat treatment,” both the Optimus G and Optimus G Pro will be blessed with new features after the update. Some things will be added, some modified, while many of the bugs will be squashed along the way. Furthermore, you should expect performance and battery life improvements.
In a nutshell, you should make sure to tap the Update button the second you’re prompted to do so. There’s only stuff to gain here and nothing to lose.
