Almost a year after its release, Google’s Chromecast can now mirror your Android device on the big screen. The capability, which was announced at Google I/O 2014 a few weeks back adds to Chromecast’s functionality in a huge way. Before this update, Chromecast could only cast content to the big screen via Chromecast compatible apps, which are few and far between.
Mirroring your Android device to your Chromecast is dead simple. Just fire up the Chromecast app on your device and select the “cast screen” option. Anything on your device’s screen will now be visible on the Chromecast connected big screen.
The screen mirroring feature is still in beta, and is rolling out over the next few days for HTC, LG, Samsung and other popular Android devices. Be on the lookout for version 1.7 of the Chromecast app.
Pretty awesome, right? Think it’s about time to buy a Chromecast.
