For quite some time now, Sony allowed users to unlock bootloaders of their Xperia devices. The process was not that complicated — at least not for those who actually wanted to take this route — but the company decided to make it even easier, nevertheless.
And voila… the Unlock Boot Loader service got a facelift, which should make it appealing to the wider audience. And which makes the site look that much better / modern.
The service is also easier to use, featuring step-by-step instructions to guide users through the process. Moreover, Sony has added support for the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, which until this point were not on the list of supported devices.
We applaud Sony for making its devices hacker friendly and would want to see every single handset maker out there taking this path. Alas, the extra tools for the few savvy users don’t seem to translate to extra sales for Sony, which keeps struggling to compete with Samsung and Apple.
