Asus has made an updated ROM for its Transformer Pad TF701T available for download. The new firmware that packs Android 4.4.2 KitKat is still not rolling out over the air, and in the meantime – users can visit Asus’ website to download the firmware file and manually cram it onto their keyboard-equipped tablet.
You should note that there are multiple SKUs to choose from, and you *must* select the one that will work with your Transformer Pad, region wise. Each file is about 1GB in size, hinting us Asus included many of its own tweaks to the software, not just Google’s “mandatory” stuff.
If you’re not sure what should be done — cause something could always go wrong — you’re best off waiting for the over-the-air rollout when the update process is seamless as tapping few buttons, after which you end-up with a tablet that runs the latest version of Android… along with Asus’ own software. Good luck. 😉
