HTC Desire 816 and 610 Land in the U.S., More Desire Models to Come

HTC Desire 816 scores 450,000 pre-orders in China in just three days

HTC is launching the budget friendly Desire line in the U.S. The Desire smartphones borrow from HTC’s successful One line, taking all of the good things about the HTC One M7 and M8 and squeezing them into affordable and functional packages. The Desire line includes HTC’s famous BoomSond speakers, Zoe, BlinkFeed and of course, Sense 6.

The Desire 816 and 610 will make the maiden voyage, followed by more Desire devices later this year. The smarpthones will be available across many carriers and will come in varying color and size options. The Desire 610 is available through HTC.com or AT&T for $199.99, and the Desire 816 is available today from Virgin Mobile for $299.

The Desire 610 rocks a 4.7 inch FWVGA display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8MP rear-facing camera and 8GB of onboard storage. The Desire 816 is a little beefier than the 610, touting a 5.5 inch HD270 display, a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1.5GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera and 8GB of onboard storage. Both models include a microSD slot for memory expansion and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Again, not the most powerful devices out there, but affordable and functional for sure. Any takers?

Just ordered the 816 yesterday from QVC for $199. Can’t beat it for being off contract and sounds like an all around decent phone. We shall see
