One of the big downsides of modern wearable devices is the (perceived) lack of apps. The rise of Android Wear and the upcoming Apple iWatch promise to change that, but in the meantime users are “stuck” with the likes of Samsung Gear and Pebble smart watches. But guess what – there are quite a few apps you can install on these devices.
Samsung has recently announced that users can choose between more than 1,000 different apps for the Gear series watches. Consequently, Pebble owners also have a comparable number of apps to choose from.
But this is the Samsung story. The Korean company released the following infographic to celebrate the big achievement and perhaps hoping it will help sell more devices.
Samsung is also preparing to launch its first modern smart watch with built-in cellular connectivity, and the first such watch with circular display a la Moto 360. We expect that at least one of these, if not both, are officially announced next week during the IFA show in Berlin. We’ll bring you additional information as we get ’em; check out the mentioned infographics in the meantime.
