Acer Liquid X1 with octa-core chip start selling in Taiwan with a price tag of under $300

Acer Liquid X1

Acer Liquid X1, which was announced alongside few other devices at this year’s Computex, is now available for purchase in Taiwan. It’s a rock-solid mid-ranger with a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 chip, 5.7-inch IPS screen with 720p HD resolution and 2GB of RAM. In addition, the X1 also packs 13-megapixel camera with F/1.8 aperture and LED flash on the back, 16GB of internal memory, and LTE Cat. 4 connectivity support. All this is selling in Acer’s home turf for an equivalent of $265, making it a rather easy sell.

The Liquid X1 is part of Acer’s plan to rank among the top five smartphone makers in Taiwan within the next two years. If they unveil few other devices with similar specs and price, they may actually stand a chances to grab share from the likes of Samsung, HTC and LG. We’ll see how that goes…

In the meantime, I personally think Acer should also focus on the tablet market and launch an Android version of the Aspire Switch 10. But I’ve already talked about it.
