Aside from all those tablets, Acer has also unveiled a new smartphone at IFA – Liquid Z500. This device is hardly a head turner, but it will provide a decent value for the money.
Set to hit Europe in just a few weeks with a price tag of just 149 EUR (about $195), this mid-ranger packs a 5-inch 720p HD IPS screen, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of expandable storage, and a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. This, in case you wonder, is likely some entry-level SoC made by MediaTek.
The Taiwanese company promises “CD quality” audio making the Z500 a great option for the youth who wants to consume media while on the go without paying a hefty premium for the benefit.
While we dig Acer’s argument, we would like to see them launching something better. They make some seriously sexy laptop and one would assume they could bring the same expertise to the mobile world. Or even the wearables space. If Asus can do it, so could Acer. Or so I think. What do you say?
