HTC has started rolling out HTC EYE Experience update for its still-best device, the One M8. The Taiwanese company said this is coming, but honestly, we haven’t expected it this quickly. Then again, not every user will get the latest firmware in the next few days with the majority having to wait for carrier approvals.
Included as part of the newly announced Desire EYE firmware, the HTC EYE Experience brings along a number of camera software enhancements. These include Face Tracking, which allows the front-facing camera to track the faces of up to 4 people and keep them in focus; Split Capture, that makes use of both the front and the rear cameras and combines the resulting image into a handy collage; and Face Fusion, a feature that allows users to make a mashup between their selfie and another portrait image.
Aside from the camera enhancements, the update also comes with the latest version of Android – 4.4.4 KitKat, which improves security and fixes few of the bugs of the earlier release.
The update weighs in at 252 MB and once you’re prompted to download, you’re best off doing so while connected to a fast Wi-Fi hotspot. Unfortunately, we’ve no idea when you particular HTC One M8 unit will get the goodies…
