Chinese Zopo is preparing to launch what we would say is the first regular (as opposed to luxury) high-end smartphone with Sapphire Glass screen. Kyocera has a device with such display but their Brigadier is a mid-range product, offered by Verizon Wireless in the U.S.
Aside from offering virtually impossible to break 5.5-inch full HD screen, the soon-to-be-announced Zopo ZP999 aka Lion Heart will also come with top-notch specs such as MediaTek’s powerful MT6595M chip clocked at 2.0Ghz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, dual SIM support, 14-megapixel rear camera with F2.0 aperture, 5-megapixel selfie shooter, 4G LTE connectivity support, 2,700 mAh battery, and MediaTek’s HotKnot feature that comes in the place of NFC.
The best thing is the price – all this will be available for $419, making for an amazing deal. Alas, we’re not sure when or even whether Zopo’s Lion Heart will make it to the Western hemisphere. You will be able to get it from one of many importers which will undoubtedly add a couple dozen dollars to the price to make some money along the way. It’s unlikely a major carrier in Europe or North America will pick one of these up, though.
