Although Samsung has just recently started selling the Galaxy Note 4 (pictured above), we’ve already caught the first rumors about its successor, the Note 5. Here are 5 things to know about the company’s upcoming phablet. Bear in mind that this information is a product of our speculation and things we caught across the Interwebs.
1. 6-inch 4K AMOLED screen
According to this post at PhoneArena, the Galaxy Note 5 will rock a 5.9 or 6-inch 4K AMOLED screen. This translates into 2160 x 3840, making it really hard to spot a single pixel on the display. We expect nothing short of stunning visuals which are powered by the next generation graphics and processor. Which leads me to the next point…
2. Next generation processor
Honestly, I’m not sure that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 will be up for a task to control that many pixels with ease. This processor is made to deal with pretty much anything you throw at it, but I’m not sure Qualcomm ever imagined calculations involving so many pixels at once. Chances are some newer chip, Snapdragon 820 perhaps, will be required. Moreover, we would think Samsung will also come up with a faster chip of its own; Exynos 8 Octa?
3. Best camera, ever?
The Note 5 will have a 20MP camera sensor or something of that sorts. The front-facing camera will get a boost as well, making this one of the best selfie-taking devices, ever. We also expect some fancy capabilities in the software department that could, let’s say, allow users to focus photos long after they’ve been taken. I’m speculating at this stage, but you see where this is going, right?
4. All-metal body
2015 will be the “year of metal” for Samsung. First, we expect to see the all-new Galaxy S6 boasting the unibody design and then the same principle being applied to its bigger brother. If my predictions are right, the Galaxy Note 5 will be the sexiest phablet ever, with rock-solid construction and the body you can’t bend that easily.
5. IFA release date
We expect to see the next Galaxy Note device unveiled in September, during the IFA conference in Berlin. Perhaps we also see some other fancy accessory announced at that time. Ever since the Galaxy Note 3 was introduced, this has turned into a small tradition for Samsung. We’re not sure whether this accessory will be a new smart watch or a VR headset. Waiting, seeing and of course speculating is pretty much all we can do at this stage. Anyone dares to guess what else the Note 5 could include?
