Xiaomi may be preparing to launch a successor to its rock-solid Mi4 smartphone. According to latest leaks, the so called “Apple of China” could use world’s media attention in Las Vegas to show everyone how sexy a phablet can be.
Rumors suggest that the Mi 5 or Mi4s — we’re not sure about the name — will boast a 5.5- or 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) screen, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel main camera.
Another rumor claims Xiaomi may opt for a sapphire glass display, which would make the company one of the very few vendors using this tough material to protect screens of its devices. Other handset makers doing this include those manufacturing luxury products, as well as Kyocera and Huawei which offer Brigadier in the US, and the special version of Ascend P7, respectively.
On the other hand, due to supply problems, the Chinese firm may take a middle road and offer the sapphire crystal-equipped Mi 5 / Mi 4s only in limited quantities.
In any case, we can’t wait to see the next Xiaomi device, no matter how it ends up being known. 😉
