Operation defend Kindle Fire: Amazon on the lookout for patents

Amazon is looking to defend its Kindle Fire from any future litigation. There are rumors surfacing that the Kindle maker wants to throw its hat in on the search for patents. According to Reuters, the company is looking for an “Acquisition and Investment Leader” to “identify and evaluate strategic IP acquisition and licensing opportunities.” Let me translate that in English. Amazon wants to hire someone who can help sniff out any company out there who may hold some  patents.

This makes perfect sense for Amazon to be working on this behind the scenes, because lets be honest, it’s only a matter of time before Apple or whoever goes after them for “infringing” on patents. With the Kindle Fire being the success it was, it’s only natural that the e-commerce giant goes hunting for someones IP portfolio.
