We know that Zeemote, the company behind the Bluetooth mobile gaming controller, may be out for sale. We have this confirmed now, as Aplix Corporation announced that it has acquired the assets of Zeemote Inc., in an all cash transaction. Aplix agreed to retain the services of a number of key Zeemote staff including: Jim Adams and Rob Podoloff who will continue with their roles as VP Business Development and CTO, respectively.
Those unfamiliar, myself included, should know that Aplix Corporation embeds its JBlend (Java) platform on to more than 110 million mobile devices each year. Zeemote’s software will be included in the JBlend offering to enable the Zeemote JS1 Controller and other Bluetooth-enabled peripherals to be offered globally. In other words, Aplix will make sure millions of mobile phones shipped around the world will be Zeemote compatible out of box. That could be something, don’t you think?
