If you can’t wait until Feb. 13 to get your hands on the HTC Inspire 4G you’ll be happy to know that The Shack has your back. You can preorder the Android device tomorrow from Radio Shack and you’ll even get a $30 accessory credit.
The HTC Inspire 4G is a solid Android smartphone that will be part of AT&T next-generation mobile data push. We generally feel that this is a Desire HD with HSPA+ support for AT&T but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The HTC Inspire 4G features a 1 GHz processor, HSPA+ support, Android 2.2 with the Sense UI, an 8-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera for video calls and a 4.3-inch Super LCD display. The specs are solid but won’t blow you away in a world where dual-core processors are quickly becoming the standard for top-shelf smartphones.
The HTC Inspire 4G will cost $99 on a new, two-year contract and the Radio Shack deal will only work if you sign up with the $25 a month data plan. That may be a pain for some who wanted to take advantage of the tiered pricing which allows you to get smartphone data for as low as $15 for 200 MB.
With the Motorola Atrix coming out in about a month, I do have a tough time recommending this device unless you really, really like HTC Sense. You should check out our full review of the HTC Desire HD for an idea of what to expect.
It’s interesting to watch AT&T make a big push with Android, as the company has just lost exclusivity of the Apple iPhone. The Verizon iPhone just became available for preorders this morning and we’ve already heard reports that it’s shipping out already.
Will the Android army be enough to help AT&T stop the bleeding? It’s too soon to tell but it will be fun to find out.
