For some reason Samsung hasn’t used the “official press channels” to launch the Galaxy S WiFi 5.0. Rather, we’ve seen the small tablet device at Samsung’s booth and were amazed why it wasn’t properly announced.
Alas, the all-touchscreen device lacks cellular radios and you can only connect to the Internet via WiFi. Sure you can install some VoIP app from the Android Market and use it to take and make phone calls, but I guess the point is to go head to head with Apple’s iPod Touch 4.
Specs wise, the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 comes with a 5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, huge 2500mAH battery and a microSD memory card slot. In other words, we’re talking about the Samsung Galaxy S phone with a slightly bigger screen (5 vs 4 inches) and without the actual phone capabilities.
Pricing and availability details were not announced but I’m betting we’ll see Sammy’s new tablet hitting markets throughout the world with a below-$400 price tag.
