Six weeks after it hit the market, iPhone 4S has quickly risen to fame on Flickr. It’s now the second-most popular cameraphone on the photo-sharing site. The iPhone 4 reigns as the top cameraphone for now, but it’s safe to assume the iPhone 4S will take over eventually. The iPhone 4 is also the most popular camera overall, so that means the iPhone 4S would claim that title as well.
I don’t think the folks at Apple are losing too much sleep about the competition, though. The third most popular cameraphone on Flickr is the iPhone 3G from 2008 and behind that is the now-free iPhone 3GS. The only non-Apple product that made the top tier of cameraphones is the HTC Evo 4G, which is steadily maintaining its position in fifth place.
There’s a number of factors that contribute to the iPhone 4S’s rapid climb to success on Flickr. Apple sold 4 million units in its first three-day weekend, making it the fastest-selling iPhone ever. It will very likely be the top phone this quarter. The improved camera is another major selling point. Apple added an 8 MP camera with 1080p HD video recording, video stabilization, and a fifth lens for sharper images and enhanced low-light performance.
