Microsoft’s had a big week. They unveiled the Surface Tablet line on Monday at an event in Los Angeles, then demonstrated the next generation of Windows Phone at the Windows Phone Development Summit, which kicked off yesterday in San Francisco. Needless to say, Ballmer and Co. have been busy over the last few months, and a new video out of ReadWriteWeb suggests that Microsoft may have turned to a familiar source for inspiration for their events this week.
Looking particularly at the Surface event, the ReadWriteWeb video shows several striking similarities between Microsoft’s unveiling of Surface and Apple’s unveiling of the iPad just over 2 years ago. While it’s interesting to see just how similar the two presentations were, it likely speaks more to the nature of tech-related press events than any copying on behalf of Microsoft. There’s a formula when it comes to these press events that most companies follow as they try to get the tech elite excited about their latest products, and if anyone’s going to change the mold here, it isn’t going to be Microsoft.
That’s just our two cents, check out the video below and decide for yourself whether or not Microsoft’s speech was Jobs-inspired.
