Amazon’s GameCircle released last year for the Kindle. Like Apple’s GameCenter, it provides leaderboards, achievements and cloud syncing of data to Kindle users purchasing games from Amazon’s Appstore. Now Amazon has opened up the GameCircle SDK to any Android developers. Games can now use GameCircle features whether on Kindle or any other devices, and both in Amazon’s Appstore and the Google Play Store.
Google’s new Google Play Games service provides a similar feature set, so it will be interesting to see how much adoption for Amazon’s GameCircle there is outside of its Appstore. Certainly Amazon’s hoping this will draw more developers to its GameCircle and Appstore environment.
