Apple is acquiring mobile transit app, HopStop, according to reports in Bloomberg and Mashable. Bloomberg first reported the acquisition on Saturday, and Mashable then contacted Apple which confirmed the deal. Details on the dollar amount Apple will pay to acquire the mobile transit app was not disclosed.
HopStop provides users with route and schedule information for subways and buses across seven countries. The service pulls in transit information from 700 different transit agencies worldwide. It is available for iOS, Android and as a web service. There is no information about how this acquisition will effect the Android and web app.
