TV and video recommendation engine Matcha went offline this summer with nary a mention as to why it was shut down. Thanks to a report by AllThingsD, we now know the reason for the company’s disappearance — it was acquired by Apple.
Apple hasn’t confirmed the acquisition (it rarely does when it scoops up the smaller companies), but Venture Beat also got tipped to this purchase and estimates the deal to be worth between $1 million and 1.5 million.
