Google is apparently working on a tool that will make it easy to port Chrome apps to Android and iOS.
The Next Web noticed that Googler Michal Mocny has been working on a project dubbed Mobile Chrome Apps, which has been hosted on Github since May. The repository’s description says that the code is a toolkit which allows porting of Chrome packaged apps to ones that will run on mobile devices running Android and iOS by using Apache Cordova (aka PhoneGap). The apps created with this tool would retain their HTML, CSS and JavaScript innards, but they will look like native apps made for Apple’s and Google’s mobile platforms.
It’s unclear when this tool will be officially released, but the first beta could be out in January, helping two of the hottest platforms get additional apps along the way…
