The earlier rumored gold Xiaomi Mi3 has been officially announced and as far as we know, it’s limited to users in China. Folks living in other markets where “Apple of China” is selling its gear may get it at a later date or… don’t get to buy one at all. We can’t say a thing with certainty.
In any case, the new device has been unveiled by Xiaomi’s CEO who said it’s been released to celebrate 10 million Mi3 units shipped. The Champagne Gold version looks like any other Mi3 though with the new luxurious color. We like it… a lot.
What we would love even more is the Mi3s, which should be unveiled later this year, boasting a faster Snapdragon 801 or 805, or Tegra K1 chip. Perhaps the Chinese company launches both variants, one with Qualcomm’s and another with NVIDIA’s chip. They already did that with the Mi3 with users in China getting the Tegra 4 version.
Despite the color change, the price of the gold Mi3 has remained the same – it’s set at 1,499 Yuan, which translates into some $242. Specs include a 5-inch full HD screen, Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera on the back.
