According to a report from MacRumors, Apple could be set to launch the iPhone 6 on Tuesday, October 14th. The report also states that Apple is planning media event set for Tuesday, September 16th. The report cites an internal Apple Retail Store meeting as the source of the news.
An October launch goes against recent rumors which claims that the iPhone 6 will launch in mid-September. Apple is also expected to unveil new iPads, OSX Yosemite and the oft-rumored iWatch in October. Changing the iPhone’s release date to October will give Apple a busy month indeed.
Apple is expected to follow 2013’s lead and release two iPhones this year, one with a 4.7 inch screen and one with a 5.5 inch screen. There’s also talk of an Apple smartwatch, which could be on the docket as well. Personally, I think we’re going to have to wait a while before the iWatch sees the light of day. While I’m sure Apple is working on a smartwatch, I have a feeling the company will want to wait and see how Android Wear (and the wearable market in general) pans out before jumping into those waters.
So, what are your thoughts? Will Apple break with tradition and launch the iPhone 6 in October?
