Samsung has unveiled two new phones, part of the (again) new “Diva” series, that targets female consumers.
First comes the clamshell-shaped S5150 Olivia, which reminds me on some Nokia (NYSE: NOK) and Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) models. The device prides itself with a 2.2-inch QVGA screen, 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, music player, and a microSD memory card slot.
As for the S7070, it’s yet another Samsung’s all-touchscreen-er, rocking a 3-inch WQVGA resistive display, 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, media player, FM radio, and a microSD slot.
Both devices are expected to be available during the first quarter of 2010…

On the heels of the two successful all-touchscreen models – S5230 and S5600, Samsung is launching a similar phone marked as S5560.
The device looks pretty much like some other Samsung models, boasting such specs as 3-inch WQVGA display, quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity (no 3G), WiFi, 5-megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1, standard 3.5mm headset jack, and a microSD memory card slot.
And that’s about all we know at this stage. Plus the price, which should be bellow 300 EUR once it hits Europe next month…

Samsung has unveiled a new all-touchscreen device for the ever-growing Chinese market – F839. The somewhat stylish device comes with a CDMA radio along with 1x EV-DO (3G), meaning this baby is slated for China Telecom. Rest of the specs include 3.2-inch WQVGA (240×400 pixels) touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera, media player (DivX), GPS, FM radio, Bluetooth, web browser, email client, office document viewer, 1,000 mAh battery, and of course a microSD memory card slot. Size wise, it measures 115.1×55x12.9 mm and has a weight of 109 grams. Pricing information was not disclosed and we also don’t know whether Samsung plans to export the F839 outside of China…

After meandering the Asian world, Garmin-asus is bringing their nüvifone brand to North America on October 4 care of AT&T (NYSE: T); that $299.99 pricetag rumour was dead on. The G60 nüvifone runs on Linux, rocks a 272 x 480 WQVGA touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, 2.5 mm headphone jack (boo), and true to Garmin’s DNA, it’s big on GPS navigation and services. This will be the only Linux phone to come out of Garmin-asus, as they’ll be switching to Android and Windows Mobile exclusively for future handsets. The M20 is currently their Windows Mobile offering, but we’ll have to wait and see if it ever finds its way to this side of the pond. If you’d like to take a closer look, I tried out the G60 in Barcelona earlier this year, or you can scope out the information page.

US Cellular will be adding two new Samsung phones in the near future – Trill r520 and Caliber r850.
The first of the two, Trill r520, is a music-centric device, priding itself with Bang & Olufsen’s ICEpower signal processing, 1GB on internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot. The other device, Caliber r850, comes in the ever popular all-touchscreen form factor, sporting 3.2-inch WQVGA display, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, 3-megapixel camera, full HTML browser…
And that’s about all we have at this stage. Exact release date and pricing are unknown at this stage, but we’ll certainly post more as soon as we hear something new…

In Android, Rumors, Samsung
Pictures of Samsung’s second Android phone have been floating around for the last couple of weeks, but attached to this latest batch of a white/green and black/orange models is the rumour that the Galaxy Lite I5700 won’t be making it to market until 2010, despite word that France would be getting it in October. That’s a bit of a shame, but the original I7500 should be given some time to breathe and handle the holidays this year. The primary differences between the two Galaxys is less on-board storage (4 GB), reduced screen resolution (WQVGA), and a bumped-down camera (3.2 megapixels). In any case, we’ll look forward to the Galaxy Lite in the new year, presumably at a lower price point than its daddy.

Samsung has unveiled yet another Korea-only phone called VVIP (SCH-W910). The stylish clamshell device comes painted in golden and black, and therefore looks quite luxurious. There are two displays on board: internal is WQVGA AMOLED and measures 2.6 inches; whereas external is a 1.5-inch OLED-based screen. Rest of the specs include HSDPA connectivity support, 2-megapixel camera, GPS, media player, Bluetooth, SOS function, e-dictionary, FM radio, and a microSD memory card slot.
SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) will be carrying the phone and will sell it for 500,000 Won (about $400), which I presume is the price of an unlocked device, sans any strings attached.

With all the different versions of the device, Samsung is well on its way to reach its milestone to sell 10 million units of its all-touchscreen S5230 Star feature phone, which is also known as Tocco Lite in the UK. Announced alongside the more powerful 5600 model, the Star is an affordable handset which lacks 3G, but packs a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen and the Korean giant’s easy-to-use TouchWIZ interface. In that sense, we’re not surprised at all to see them moving these babies “at rocket speed” as they say it in the press release.
Here are some sale figures from the last few months:
- May – more than 700,000 S5230 units sold
- June – 900,000
- July – 1.6 million
- August – 1.8 million
Will they reach the 10 million units sold milestone? Most likely YES!

Samsung has unveiled a new version of the existing device, designed for girls or for everyone who digs pink color (actually that’s “Sakura pink”) for their handset. It’s called Samsung Anycall Ultra S S7350H Elegant Edition and it comes together with a pink leather pouch and a makeup mirror — ok, it’s for girls, only!
There’s also a special mobile content pre-installed on the S7350H, including “romantic mobile theme” and “smart seasonal wallpapers,” which change automatically according to the upcoming calendar event. For instance, there are special wallpapers for such days as Valentine’s Day, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and so on.
Specs wise, there’s a 2.6-inch WQVGA screen, 3G, GPS, 5 megapixel camera, and microSD memory card slot. Pricing is unknown at this stage, but we think it will be just a little more expensive than the original S7350…

The company we’ve never heard of before, Vobis Computer, is about to launch its first Android handset in Russia. It’s called HighScreen PP5420 and what makes it interesting is the secondary OLED display/navpad that reminds us on the Samsung Soul.
Here’s the recap of the specs:
- Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) MSM7201ATM CPU running at 528MHz
- Quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) along with dual-band HSPA (900/2100 MHz)
- 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen
- 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus

- WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, FM Radio, accelerometer, TV Out

As for the pricing, we’re hearing the PP5420 will cost about 360 EUR, which is not that much considering the specs…
